I thought this was a great story. I have to say I love the Tripp family. Katana does a great job of bringing all the qualities of a close knit family out and making you smile. You know the fun, laughing, embarrassing, loving, and maddening people that you find in a family and this one is no different. This story pulls you into this nice community and you feel a part of it.Cam is widowed father trying to raise a little girl through all the challenges that it brings. He has his family that can be helpful or hinder just like every other family. Lydia is a reporter sent to do a story on Maddie's ( Cam's daughter ) fundraiser. Now you know that it can't be as simple as that or what would be the point of reading the book. It's a story of life and moving on and learning to trust again for all involved.I don't want to put any spoilers in here but let me just say I had a hard time putting this story away because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. To me that is important in a story, another important thing is that it can make you laugh and smile. This story has all that and some romance too. I can hardly wait for the rest of the Maple Grove series to find out what happens to the rest of the Tripp family. Thanks Katana for another great read. I loved the Soul Stripper series and am looking forward to Wicked Exposure too.
I really enjoyed this well-written, small-town romance! Only a couple of chapters in and I was already in love with Cam.Reading this was like watching a movie play out in front of me. With situations so real in the little town of Maple Grove, this story grabbed me by the heart and didn’t let go.The author gives us Cam & Lydia, who are so easy to fall in love with. I felt an instant connection. The chemistry between them sparkled. Watching their relationship go from attraction to annoyance back to attraction, then to can’t-stop-thinking-about-each-other was entertaining and enjoyable.I absolutely fell in love with Cam’s daughter, Maddie, as well as the rest of his family. When Lydia thought she wasn’t good with kids, watching her interact and bond with Maddie was endearing and made me want to squeeze them both. This story was so good, so real, with characters that stole my heart. Looking forward to reading Steve’s book, Healing You!
I am trying to find the words to give this book the justice it needs. It was honest and probably the most truest story. There were a few times I wanted to scream "it's not what you think, it's not what you think". And of course the can't hear me. At some point I actually felt like Cam was speaking to me. The words Ms. Collins used were so true and it caught me. I literally couldn't stop reading. It was such a beautiful story. I know it's difficult to have two emotions at the same time. But I am crying and smiling. A definite gem. A fantastic read.
Lydia had a rough day when she first "bumped" into Cam. Struggling with medical bills and a celebrity profile that was outrageously edited she keyed in on Cam's advice to "go fkr it." Photo journalist, Lydia gives up free lansing to take a job with a NYC tabloid. Seven months later she finds herself covering a story that places her in a testy acquaintce with Cam while she works on the human interest side of a fund raiser planned by Cam's ten year old daughter. What comes of Lydia's good intentions? Will the press and tabloid trolls hijack her feature and twist her leads?
Lydia saw Cam the first time in the worst day of her life. But then doesn't see him again until she goes to Maple Grove for a charity auction that sets up artist in residency and school children. Cam's daughter started it for The American Heart Association after her mom died young from a bad heart. She is in 5th grade but she is smart. Little did Lydia know that her boss was from Maple Grove and looking to make Cam look bad.
I will start by saying that those who have read Paranormal stories about a succubus (female demon or supernatural entity that seduces men, usually through sexual activity) will probably feel a little let down by the Not so much sex scenes in this book but PEOPLE, REALLY? that is a fantasy Succubus don't really exist you CAN'T compare Monica Lamb ( Succubus/Stripper/prostitute) to Lydia Ryder (Photojournalist real woman) to have the same sexual appetite. Do not get discouraged because this book may not have so many sex scenes, but the ones that were FOGGED UP my cell/ipad! (NICE BUT VERY NAUGHTY...brought back memories of "Shadow" ;-P )!The way Katana described the characters in Capturing You was great! I am still in love with this family. My favorite in this one was Maddie, such smart and sweet little girl. I can't wait to see her grow and how her story is going to develop.Lydia's New yorker attitude, sassiness and clumsiness was fun. With all the things she had going on in her life she still wasn't going around feeling sorry for herself. **SPOILER**I liked the fact that throughout the story she kept saying that she was going to write the story she was going to write and it WAS going to be published just how she wrote it.I was looking forward to seeing how that was going to be played out. Then when she explained how she had a contract drawn up I was pleasantly surprised that I got excited and jumped up from my bed, and was like...BAMB IN YOUR FACE BITCH!!!...lol. Very smart of her to cover her butt after she was wrongly blamed for writing an "off the record" comment about Noah in a previous article. Very well written and I will be looking forward to Steve's book coming out in a few months. (LOVED PROTOLOG with My NAME...hope he calls me..lol)I love Katana Collins writing style to shift from Paranormal books to REAL day to day relatable stories and an upcoming mystery is a talent that not so many writers have.
This is not a clean book. Also, I had trouble understanding who the author was referring to several times. Instead of saying " he" or "she," the author needs to use a name. Otherwise, it was a fine story.
