Not a starting point. If want a comic-book starting point, use the classic two book volumes by Yoram Bauman and Grady Klein: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0809094819/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_55 and http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0809033615/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_53.) Near the end, the material is treated with increasing brevity and less clarity (or at least the what the implications are of the theory.)
This is a short look at not just capitalism but several economic theories. I feel the author was rather biased in their view of capitalism and did their best to juxtapose it with socialism and Marxism. I dare say there is just as much time, if not more, spent on these and other leftist ideas than on capitalism. A better title might have been, an introduction to economics.
I was skeptical at first, but was quickly won over by this book. It is a plain-english introduction to the subject of capitalism. It starts at the beginning when the first settlers arrived to the U.S., And ends in present day USA. I recommend every U.S. citizen read this book.
Being easy to follow, the book contains the most essential ideas from the key thinkers in the field, which not only draws reference from their classical works, but also shows the relationships between them which you don't often find in other economic books. Whether you are a beginner or an expert in economics, a good introduction like this will simply make you appreciate the subject more and is definitely enjoyable.
Missed a good portion because of tiny cartoons on my device. Gives simple explanations for complicated ideas. Or, is it the other way around? See what I mean? Eh!
Good read that touches base on the framework of the capitalist ideology. The primary philosophers and their ideas are laid out neatly. Easy read, but informative.
